Shaping Bright Futures Together

Willow wb 14th March

This week in English we have continued to research facts about animals and started to write our own non-fiction page with a title, sub-headings and pictures with captions. We plan to produce the final pages next week.

Throughout the week we have been celebrating all things Science!  Earlier in the week we carefully dissected a flower using tweezers and found the names for each part. Have a look at some of the photos of this activity.

On Thursday we learnt about chromatography and capillary action and how a black felt tip pen is not actually all black, but includes blue and pink inks.  To separate the colours we put felt pen ink on a paper towel in a glass of water and watched as the colours separated.

We have also researched facts about the conditions plants need to survive.  Using these facts we have created a poster to explain to an alien about the best way to grow plants on her planet.

We ended the week with a visiting Scientist, Mr White, who showed us how to control a drone using just our eyes and how visual messages sent to our brain can make the drone fly.  You can see how some of the children got on in the class photos!
